Pictures and Video
Many students and parents ask about taking pictures of the show or recording performances to share with family members who are out of town or have as a keepsake. The following is the Trojan Theater policy regarding photo- and videography.
Photos
Trojan Theater takes official production photos of each show. You can purchase all the photos taken for a show for $10.00 and providing a flash drive with adequate space. Taking photos during a performance is a violation of copyright law, and is prohibited.
Video
Many people believe schools have special permission or flexibility to make "educational" video recordings of their productions. This is not true. Video recording of performances, even on personal devices for personal use, is a violation of copyright law, and is prohibited.
A few royalty companies are beginning to grant video rights. This may become more common. If/when Topeka High is given permission to make/distribute video copies of a production, we will announce this change.
Etiquette
Not only is it a violation of copyright law, but is also poor etiquette to take photo or video of a performance. In this digital age, screens light up and become distracting to performers and other audience members who are trying to enjoy the performance. Please, be courteous.
